It seems this weekend is all about denim. After 13 years of service in the jeans industry, denim still one of my favorite materials. Denim is very durable to wear and tear and the fibre is modifiable to many things, even recyclable. I´m always on the lookout for companies that not only make a good product, but also carry their responsibilities in recycling them afterwards. Swedish Nudie is one of them. Nudie Jeans has done what many other jeans companies say is impossible. Their collection is 100% organic cotton and they have a transparent production chain. The companies production chain is supported the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), which is an initiative working to improve workplace conditions in the garment and textile industry. Still, with all this going on, they manage to produce a classic and affordable high quality denim collection, which will stay in fashion for a long time. Their blog tells the stories of products and their users and mending instructions if they break.
I was superhappy to find that Nudie has also started making interior products, Scandinavian rugs, by recycling their own jeans. Scandinavian rugs have a homemade feel to them as they are often made from left over fabrics, cut to rug yarns. This makes them usually multicolored and with only the striped pattern. I adore the finished look and blue color sceme. I would love to have these in my home as they would be the perfect floor decor for a denim loving eco fashionista.
Available at their online store.
