just came across your blog and this is FANTASTIC! i've been inspired by the Ann D. collection as well, most recent post on my blog is a zipper fringe necklace I just finished! :D
ReplyDeleteI look forward to going through all your DIY projects, they look great! x
That looks absolutely great! Looking the images there might be several arrangements - but this is definitely the best. It works beautifully as a scarf and looks stunning worn crossing the body.
ReplyDeleteI think that I need to hunt down a bunch of affordable metal zippers. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
Olisiko muuten vinkkejä, mistä vetoketjuja saa kohtuuhinnalla? Meinasin jo tilata satsin Jenkeistä, mutta postikulut olisivat tuplanneet hinnan...
ReplyDeleteWow what a great idea to make it yourself! I was just thinking how much I would love the Ann D zipper scarf, new seson belt and the boots! I will ad you to my favourties so I can egerly watch yout progression!
ReplyDeletePearl x
The zippers I´ve used here are 80cm long jacket zippers with silver metal teeth.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started making my first zipper necklaces, I bought them all from my local button shop at about 5-6 euros a piece. For the necklaces I usually need 12 zippers (total 75 euro), but this zipper scarf needs about 22 (total 130 euro), so it´s not exactly cheap to buy them all new.. I was all ready giving up hope and running out of money when YKK contacted me last fall. They sent a box full of zippers as sponsor gift as they support artists!! I´ve been working with them ever since.
What I do is I keep a look out at Etsy, local fleamarkets and Ebay if I could buy some bulk cheaper (even with some postal charges added). I have also told all my friends that I need loads of metal zippers so they keep their eyes open when thrifting and travelling! :)
I love your blog Outi, and come to see it every frigging day. Keep up the amazing work, yo're an inspiration to us all. Go Outi, go Outi! I'm totally going to try to make that Scarf, but yeah, it's just that zippers are expensive, but I'll splurge a little.
ReplyDeletepop!
ReplyDeletei luv. could just die. amazing. you´re amazing diy-girl!
how much? heh

Silver, I can´t say yet. I have to finish one first so I´ll know how much time and material it takes to make it. :) I will publish a tutorial if you want to make one yourself, but I´ll also make a few for sale.
