This is the first ever guest post on OutsaPop. Yey! A while ago I asked Netta Kervinen, the designer from refashion label Ainokainen, to make a tutorial form her genious sweater skirt refashion to be released on my blog. And she did, a cool gal as she is. Ainokainen is a Finnish refashion label that makes clothes from used clothes and other recycled materials like lace, old buttons and ribbons. Netta is ecological in all aspect of her garment production. For example she uses vegetable dyes in her wool garments and her showroom/worshop is powered with eco electricity (ekosähkö). Ainokainen was the first Finnish label to present a collection at the Berlin eco fashion week last July. Here are some pics of her latest collections. If you have made a tutorial on refashioning clothes or accessories, send me mail! All the best ones are featured here! :)

5. Make a fold in front and back of the neck opening.
5. Muodosta eteen ja taakse laskokset. Keskelle eteen ja taakse n.7cm leveä, jossa kangas on taitettu vastakkain.

6. Make two smaller additional folds to each side of the middle folds. Measure that the neck opening is now about as long as your waistline. If not adjust the folds to make it so.
6. Tee keskilaskoksen molemmille sivuolle n.6cm päähän toiset laskokset. Laskosten avulla muodostat vyötärönympäryksen mekkoon.

7. Sew a tube from jersey that has about the same length/width than your waist. Fold it from the middle.
7. Ompele trikoosta n.40cm pötkö ja taita se kaksinkerroin niin että taitereuna jää ylös.

8. Sew a casing for elastic band. Insert elastic band to the waist casing.
8. Ompele trikoon yläreunaan kuja kuminauhalle n. 2,5 cm päähän reunasta. (kujan leveys riippuu kuminauhasi leveudestä, käytä jousto-ommelta). Pujota kuminauha kujaan sopivalle kireydelle. Ompele kuja kiinni.

  2. Don´t thank me :) Netta is the designer genious on this one. I´m just so happy she decided to share one of her refashion designs with my readers.

I think more refashion designers should do this! After all it is quite impossible to "copy" the design 100% since it´s done with recycled materials. And home DIY making is always somewhat different from industrial working methods.
